Echo in home theater gone

We have a basement theater with hard walls that bounced sound everywhere. Put up the dual-layer panels on the main wall and the echo is completely gone. Dialogue is clear, no more slap-back. Worth every penny.

Love the result, Marcus!

Buy the dual-layer if you can

I started with the single-layer panels and they helped, but the dual-layer 0.72 inch ones are noticeably better for echo. The extra thickness makes a real acoustic difference. Worth the upgrade for a serious room.

Covered an ugly entry door

Our front entry had a plain hollow core door that looked cheap. We clad the entire door with these panels horizontally. It looks like a custom door now. Coat hooks mounted right through. Zero regrets.

Home gym office combo

We turned a spare room into a home office and Peloton gym. The full wall of panels killed the echo from the hardwood floors and the TV. Video calls sound normal now. The dark slat wall looks premium.

Packaged well, no damage

Arrived in a tall reinforced box, each panel individually wrapped. No bent corners, no crushed edges. The panels are heavy so the box did its job. Shipping was fast.

TV wall feature with LED strip

We put panels on the wall behind our TV and ran a blue LED strip behind the last panel. The slats catch the light and it looks incredible. Movie night vibe on another level.

Full wall transformation

We did an entire accent wall in our living room. The panels are big (47 inches tall) so the install goes fast. The room went from boring to architectural. Our guests always comment on the wall.

Behind a shelving unit

We put panels behind our freestanding bookshelf so the shelf reads as a built-in. The slats show through the gaps and add texture. Also helps with the room acoustics. Double win.

Utility knife cuts clean

Use a sharp utility knife with a fresh blade. Score the slat grooves and snap. Takes two passes. Don't use a saw - it creates fiber dust. The result is clean edges that butt up nicely.

Color is a true matte black

I was worried the black would look gray or cheap. It's a deep, matte black that matches modern interiors. No plastic sheen. The slat texture catches light beautifully.

Wainscoting accent wall

We put panels on the lower half of our wall above existing wainscoting. The contrast between the black slats and the painted upper wall looks intentional and high-end. Cut around the baseboard easily.

Two packs for a big wall

Our office wall is about 16 feet wide. We ordered two 12-packs (dual-layer) and covered it floor to ceiling. Worth measuring and buying in one go to match colors - both packs matched perfectly.

Gap between panels if not careful

The panels butt together but if you don't press them tightly, you'll see a thin gap of wall color between them. Use a level and push them together. Small gap is not noticeable but measure carefully.

Beige wall behind panels

We have a light beige wall and the black panels contrast beautifully. The slats create shadow lines that add depth. The room feels warmer despite the dark panels.

Thickness comparison photos

I ordered both the 0.36 and 0.72 versions to compare. The dual-layer is clearly denser and looks more premium on the wall. The single-layer is fine for light echo but if you want real absorption, go thick.

Peel and stick, no contractor needed

I was dreading hiring someone to do an acoustic wall. These panels have adhesive backing - just peel the film and press. I did a full wall by myself in an afternoon. No screws, no nails, no mess.

Looks like a custom wood slat wall

Everyone who sees our living room thinks we paid a thousands for a custom wood slat accent wall. These are polyester fiber but look identical to the ribbed wood panels. The black color is rich and matte.

Zoom calls finally sound professional

Our home office had terrible echo - every Zoom call sounded like I was in a bathroom. Put panels behind my desk and the improvement on calls was immediate. Colleagues asked if I redid the office.

Cut clean around outlets and switches

Used a utility knife to notch panels around a light switch and outlet. The polyester fiber cuts easily - no crumbling, no dust cloud. Just measure twice and score once. Looks seamless.

No chemical smell unlike foam panels

I've used egg crate foam panels before that reeked for weeks. These polyester panels had zero odor out of the box. No off-gassing. Could install and sleep in the room the same night.

Strong adhesive on painted drywall

I was worried the peel-and-stick wouldn't hold. The adhesive backing is aggressive. Clean the wall with rubbing alcohol first, press firmly, and it stays flat. No sagging after two months.

Adhesive weak on textured walls

Our walls have an orange-peel texture and the adhesive didn't grip well on its own. I added a few finishing nails at the top and they're solid now. If you have smooth drywall you'll be fine, but textured walls need extra help.

Good tip, Mike!

Studio vocals sound clearer

I record vocals at home and the untreated room had a boxy sound. Put up four dual-layer panels around the mic position and the room tone tightened up. Less reverb to edit out in post. Great value compared to studio foam.

Measure your wall before ordering

I ordered the 12-pack dual-layer thinking it would cover my wall. It covered about two-thirds. Measure the square footage and order extra. The panels are great, just don't run short.
