We painted our wall emerald green and added the white double-layer frame molding. The contrast is exactly what we wanted - looks like a designer feature wall, not a DIY project. The beige sectional and gold sconces tie it all together. So many compliments.
Love the emerald wall, Rachel!
I've installed picture frame molding before and it meant mitering every corner with a miter saw. This kit comes pre-cut to the exact lengths you need. Just peel the tape backing and press. Our living room wall went up in an afternoon.
We used the molding on our home office feature wall behind the desk. On Zoom calls clients always comment on the wall. The double-layer frame adds depth that single-layer trim just doesn't have. Worth the upgrade.
We painted the molding to match our wall color (sage green) for a monochromatic look. The surface takes paint well with a light primer first. It now looks like built-in millwork, not stick-on trim.
I was worried peel-and-stick trim would fall off, but the backing tape is aggressive. Pressed each strip firmly for 30 seconds and it's held for months with no peeling. On painted drywall it adheres perfectly.
The kit includes a small bubble level and numbered stickers on each strip. You follow the numbers and it tells you exactly which piece goes where. First-time DIYers could tackle this without any prior experience.
We framed out our TV wall with the double-layer molding - large rectangle around the TV, smaller rectangles on the sides. It looks like a custom cabinetry feature wall. The TV nearly disappears when off.
We used a smaller version of this molding in our bathroom around the mirror area. No warping or bubbling from shower steam. Wipes clean easily. The white finish matches our fixtures.
Our living room was a plain beige box from the builder. Adding the frame molding instantly added character and architectural detail. We went from boring to magazine-worthy for under $100. Game changer.
Once the backing is off and the strip touches the wall, it's stuck. Measure and dry-fit everything first. I stuck one piece slightly off-level and had to carefully pull it off - it left a tiny paint mark but nothing terrible. Just plan the layout first.
Good advice, Brian!
The pre-cut miter corners look great once set, but you need to press firmly at the joints for a few seconds to make sure the tape seals. One corner on our project had a tiny gap until I pushed on it harder. Not a defect, just an install tip.
One kit covered our medium-sized living room wall (about 12 feet wide) with some pieces left over for a small accent. Measure your wall and order accordingly. We ordered a second kit for the dining wall.
We rent and didn't want to put holes in the walls. This peel-and-stick molding is the perfect solution. If we ever move, we'll carefully heat it with a hair dryer and peel it off. No damage to the walls so far.
We added the frame molding behind our bed as a faux headboard treatment. The double-layer frames flank the bed symmetrically. Warm bedside lamps on either side make it look like a boutique hotel room.
The molding arrives in a bright white that's a bit cooler than our warm white walls. We planned to paint it anyway so it didn't matter, but if you want a perfect match straight out of the box, budget for painting. The quality and design are excellent.
