Turned our basement into a real cinema

Bought the black tiles for the home theater and it looks amazing. The 3D pattern catches the LED recessed lights in a way flat tiles never do, and the black ceiling really makes the screen pop. They're light as a feather, dropped right into our standard 15/16 grid, and I didn't need any tools beyond a utility knife to cut around the can lights. Total game changer for the room.

Thanks! Black ceiling is exactly the moody look a theater wants. Enjoy the movies!

Looks like expensive tin tile

Put the white tiles in our formal dining room over an old ugly ceiling. The embossed pattern looks just like classic pressed tin but weighs almost nothing. We painted them a soft cream once they were up and the chandelier casts the most beautiful shadows across the 3D detail. Guests keep asking if they're real metal.

Love it! The cream paint really warms up the pattern. Glad it fooled your guests.

Man cave ceiling upgrade

Went with black for a basement bar area. These are PVC so no rust worries like real tin, and they clipped straight into the existing grid. The corner scrollwork is crisp, not blobby. We ran two boxes for the room and had just enough for the light openings. Highly recommend for a moody, old-school look.

Perfect for a basement bar. Black PVC avoids the rust you would get from real tin in a damp space.

Elegant and light

Got the white for the bedroom and it made the whole room feel taller and brighter. The 3D detail is subtle but gives the ceiling real character. Light enough that one person can lift and install. We left them unpainted white and it matches the trim beautifully.

So glad it brightened up the room. Subtle 3D detail does wonders without being loud.

Paintable, but prep it right

Bought the white and painted them to match our trim color. PVC takes paint but it needs a light scuff-sanding and a bonding primer first, regular latex on bare PVC will bead up. Once I did that, the finish was smooth. Saved me from ordering a custom color. Just budget an afternoon for the painting step.

Great tip on the bonding primer. That is the step most people miss, and it makes all the difference.

Covered an ugly old ceiling in a weekend

Our living room had a terrible dated popcorn ceiling. Rather than scrape it off, we dropped in a grid and these white tiles. Huge difference. They're flexible so a couple had a slight crease from shipping, but it pressed out and isn't visible once up. Wish I'd mapped the light layout before ordering, had to cut a few extra openings.

Smart move skipping the scrape. Glad the crease pressed out, and mapping the light layout first saves a cut. Looks like a brand new room now.

Used in our coffee shop

The owner picked the black tiles for the cafe ceiling and it reads so much cooler than white acoustic tile. Waterproof PVC is perfect over espresso machines where things get steamy. They cut cleanly with a utility knife around vents. Customers ask about the ceiling all the time.

Thanks, that black really sets a cafe mood. Good to hear it holds up to the steam.

Reordered for a second room

Used the black on the basement and white in the guest room. Same tile, two colors, both drop into standard 24x24 grids. PVC won't warp in humidity and cuts like butter with a sharp blade. Keep a couple extra in the box in case you crack one trimming around a light.

Good tip on the spare. Nice to see both colors working in the same house.

Gorgeous but black shows dust

The ceiling looks fantastic in our home gym and theater combo. Just a heads-up for anyone choosing black: the dark surface shows dust and fingerprints more than white, so keep a microfiber handy during install. Quality itself is great, pattern is sharp, fits perfectly. Just plan to clean the ceiling a little more often.

Fair warning. A dry microfiber takes the dust right off, and the look is worth it for most people.

Mostly great, one tile damaged

These look lovely once installed and really upgraded our dining room. Problem is two tiles arrived with scuffs on the embossed face from rubbing together in the box. I flipped them and used the less visible side on a lower-priority corner, but it was annoying. Otherwise easy to cut and fit. Three stars because of the shipping damage.

We are sorry about the scuffed tiles. They should be packed to prevent rubbing. Please reach out through your order and we will make it right.

Basement rec room transformation

We redid our basement rec room with black tiles and a projector wall. The room went from sad utility space to a place we actually hang out. Tiles are lightweight, fit the existing drop ceiling grid, and the 3D pattern shows up nicely under the room light string. Waterproof too, which matters in a basement.

That is the transformation we love to hear. Enjoy the rec room!

Home office feels custom now

Installed white tiles in my home study over a plain white ceiling. They add that built-in, custom-millwork feel without the cost. Dropped into a 15/16 grid, cut the HVAC vent opening with scissors surprisingly easily. Very happy with how it turned out.

Exactly, it gives that custom look for a DIY budget. Glad the vent cut went smoothly.

Measure carefully before ordering

These look great, but each box is only 24 tiles covering 96 square feet. I underestimated my room and had to order a second box, which delayed the project. Once I had enough, the install was easy and the black finish is rich. Just measure your ceiling and order at least one extra box for light cutouts and mistakes.

Good reminder, 24 tiles = 96 sq ft and it is smart to over-order a bit for cutouts. Sorry for the second order delay.
